The M49 became a stalwart go-to vocal mic choice for a generation of premium studios by elevating a great performance into something extraordinary to listen to.
The NUDE M49 carries that broad studio philosophy into a complete variable-pattern tube system. At its centre is a 34 mm, dual-diaphragm, 6-micron K47-type capsule with centre termination and single-backplate architecture.
A GE 5654W military-grade sub-miniature tube, premium capacitors including mica and Vishay components, and a 10:1 dual-bobbin BV11-style transformer shape the signal path.
Nine stepped polar-pattern positions are selected at the power supply, moving from omni through cardioid to figure-8 and the useful spaces between. That makes the M49 at home on intimate vocals, ensemble work, piano, strings, acoustic instruments and room duties.
This is the most ambitious microphone we have released: depth, dimension and a finished tube-microphone character without the vintage price barrier.

Does the NUDE M49 need phantom power?
No. The NUDE M49 is powered by its dedicated external power supply. Phantom power from your preamp or interface is unnecessary and should be switched off.
How are the M49 polar patterns selected?
The supplied power supply provides nine stepped positions from omni through cardioid to figure-8, including the intermediate patterns between them.
What sources suit the NUDE M49?
Vocals are its natural starting point, but owner sessions also report excellent results on acoustic guitar, double bass, mono drum overhead, background vocals and saxophone. The nine patterns also make it useful on piano, strings, ensembles and room duties.
What is inside the signal path?

Is the NUDE M49 an original vintage M49?
No. The NUDE M49 is a NUDE-branded microphone inspired by the broad architecture and studio workflow of the classic M49 family. It is not presented as an original vintage microphone.
