We’ve kept that spirit alive here with nine polar patterns, stepped from omni through cardioid to figure-8 (and the sweet spots in between) set on the power supply unit. This is a flagship build for us, so we’ve gone all-in on parts and execution. At the heart of the NUDE M49 is a high quality K47-type capsule: a single backplate, centre termination design with high-grade alloy clamping rings, and a dual-diaphragm 6-micron gold mylar assembly, the architecture behind that familiar “present but never pokey/gnarly” midrange and the effortlessly flattering top end. Drive is a GE 5654W military-grade sub-miniature tube, paired with carefully chosen premium capacitors (including mica and Vishay) and a 10:1 Dual-Bobbin BV11-style transformer delivering compelling presence, depth and dimension.

"...As I opened the Nude M49, I had to educate myself. "What's this clone? Oh....no one has been game enough to clone this yet..." I soon realised that this was a rare and discontinued mic from 1949 that even Neumann themselves were not confident enough to remake... $2000 AUD for a Nude mic? That's a bit off brand....BUT HANG ON, this is their best ever! Stunning build, accessories are on point, and the sound is lush! Do NUDE microphones need phantom power?
The NUDE M49 Tube driven condenser microphone does not need phantom power as it has its own proprietary power supply
How can I tell which is the front of my NUDE Microphone?
For NUDE tube condenser microphones such as the NUDE M49, the front is the side that sounds clearest, fullest and most direct when the mic is set to cardioid. The front has a cardiod pattern engraved to indicate the micxrophone front. The NUDE M49 has its polar selection switches on the front of the microphones Power Supply Unit
